Philo Johnson and Speedy Brown Ellsworth Johnson
Philo Johnson was a member of the first pioneer company to enter the area that is now called Utah.
He, along with several other men, entered the Salt Lake Valley on July 22, 1847
(two days before Brigham Young and the rest of the group).
Their names are engraved on stones
at the First Encampment Park,
located at 5th East and 17th South in Salt Lake City.
